Australian Red Cross
Logo for Australian Red Cross
  • Time frame: ongoing
  • Time commitment - minimum 1 full day per week

The program

Good community connections are essential for all aspects of health, especially as we age. Red Cross provides a transport service for eligible people who are elderly or for those living with a disability. Volunteer drivers help improve the lives of some of our most vulnerable people by facilitating access to health services and social engagements. Last year our volunteers completed 16,255 trips in Tasmania and we are looking for a volunteer driver to join our team!

The opportunity

This role would suit a semi-retired, or retired person who is able to commit to at least one full day per week. The applicant must be over the age of 18 years, have a full Australian drivers licence, and experience working with older people, and people with disabilities.

A Red Cross vehicle is provided for use, and volunteers are responsible for following transport schedules, liaising with transport coordinators, maintaining a friendly and professional manner, and ensuring clients are transported safely to and from their appointments.

The impact

As a Transport Volunteer, you will help improve the quality of life and wellbeing of vulnerable members of our community by connecting them with local services. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
