Switchboard runs a daily phone and webchat service for those in the LGBTIQ+ community who are experiencing a mental health crisis, social isolation or suffering from distress Switchboard runs a home visiting service for LGBTIQ+ elders who are in distress and/or socially isolated, Switchboard runs a family violence service for LGBTIQ+ people who are experiencing intimate partner and family violence, this includes counselling and crisis intervention Switchboard Victoria provides suicide prevention, intervention and postvention for LGBTIQ+ people

Out & About program Out & About is a free visiting, friendship and connection service for LGBTI seniors across Victoria. Our peer volunteers from the LGBTI community visit regularly reducing social isolation and loneliness.

What a visit might look like? Your visits are what you make them. The primary aim is to build community connections and reduce isolation through social activities that are mutually enjoyable. You might like to sit and chat about current affairs, walk to the local café, watch a movie together, tell each other stories from your life, or participate in a hobby, game or other activity.

Volunteer requirements. To be a volunteer with us, you must:

  • Commit to a minimum of 1 hour per week or 2 hours per fortnight for 12 months
  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Adhere to privacy, confidentiality and dignity policies
  • Undergo a free national police check
  • Undergo a flu shot (paid for by us)
  • Undergo induction and training (online)
  • Submit Monthly Reports
