The Program
To provide support for young people who are required to be interviewed by police. The objective is to support these young people at times when another responsible adult (parent/career/lawyer/case manager) is unavailable. Your role will give these young people confidence that their rights will be upheld and that they will be treated fairly during the interview and/or charging process.
The opportunity
This role suits someone over the age of 18 who is a good listener and is able to remain neutral and impartial within a Police Station. As a RASP volunteer you will support vulnerable young people facing a stressful and foreign situation.
The impact
This program aims to assist young people to make informed decisions, ensure their rights are upheld, and reduce the time young people spend in custody. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
