Australian Pet Welfare Foundation (APWF) provides evidence-based solutions within the community to save the lives of pets and people. Our primary activity is influencing key stakeholders in government, welfare agencies, veterinary professionals and community leaders. This is achieved by sharing evidenced-based information on best practice to save lives in shelters and pounds through changed policy and legislation.

The Grant Writer is responsible for identifying funding sources and writing grants to assist in the financial sustainability of Australian Pet Welfare Foundation's projects. With input from the Executive Director the Grant Writer will prepare submissions, follow-up on submissions to determine their progress, and assist with ensure reporting requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research into available grants and other funding opportunities
  • Research requirements and suitability of available grants
  • Seek information where required from funding bodies (philanthropic trusts, government  departments, local councils etc.), community groups and potential project partners
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Business Manager in grant proposal preparation
  • Write and prepare grant applications, prepare supporting documents and assist in preparing successful grant acquittals

Required skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of the charity sector and grant application processes
  • Some knowledge or experience in research science
  • Good research skills
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work to a deadline
  • Excellent written communication skills

This position would require an average of 2-6 hours per week.
