Volunteers will be matched up with recipients of their creative ways to stay in touch from afar.

We know there is a link between loneliness and poor health. This is likely to become even more a problem under the current measures to flatten the curve during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Volunteers with a passion for reaching out and making life a little brighter for shut-ins, particularly in an Aged care facility, or alone at home are most welcome. We will have kits and starter ideas for you. YOu'll be expected to keep a log/journal of the contacts you've made with your "pen-friends."

Volunteers in this role will require a minimum National Police Check and a current Working with Children Check (Victoria).

Volunteers will need to be healthy and well and have no contact with anyone who is ill. Note that the COVID-19 virus can remain on surfaces for quite a length of time, therefore, hand hygiene will be of extreme importance in this role.

A health statement will need to be signed. It is also to be understood that all volunteers MUST stop volunteering if they know they have been in contact with someone who has any kind of respiratory illness, whether the person has been tested for COVID-19 or not. Volunteers must also immediately stop volunteering if they themselves become unwell.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
