Board Director Expression of Interest

Moreton Bay Birali Steiner School Association Inc

The Opportunity:

Moreton Bay Birali Steiner School Association is currently seeking expressions of interest for Board Directors ahead of the upcoming AGM in September 2020. Birali Steiner School is in its 7th year and has grown considerably. 2020 has seen the completion of Stage 2 of the building plan, giving increased student capacity with 3 additional classrooms and a new manual arts room and community hub.

We are looking for skilled, committed and enthusiastic board members, experienced in a range of areas to help guide the Not for Profit school through the critical growth period ahead. In addition to Birali school community representatives, Independent Board Directors are required and encouraged. The board comprises of volunteer roles with an opportunity to gain experience in governance and assist a growing Steiner community by building on the foundations of the previous board members.

Current Board Roles include:

  • Association Chairperson (elected by endorsed incoming Board Directors)
  • Association Deputy Chairperson (elected by endorsed incoming Board Directors)
  • Association Treasurer (elected by endorsed incoming Board Directors)
  • Association Secretary (elected by endorsed incoming Board Directors)

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with, or commitment to ISQ Governance Professional Learning modules, in the attributes required by the role, expressing interest in governance and education.
  • The capacity to commit to approximately 5-8 hours per month for Board business, including board meeting preparation, participation and responding -including Face-to-face,  through video link and through e-communications.
  • The capacity and time management skills to maintain commitments and meet deadlines.
  • Current IT capacity and capability required to access Board Portal, telecommunication connection and interaction.
  • Excellent record keeping and reporting skills for meeting preparation, reporting and review tasks.
  • The ability to communicate confidentially, clearly and concisely, and informed by fact and evidence.
  • The ability, willingness and commitment to make informed Board decisions, based on Board agreed information, for the betterment of the school and underpinned by Steiner values.
