Vinnies Community Support

Community Support Centres are a point of contact for people seeking assistance from the St Vincent de Paul Society. The Centres also provide administrative and practical support to local Society members.

Volunteer support

As a Volunteer Support, you will play a central role in the operations of the centre, making a significant and valuable contribution to the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW.

The Volunteer Role

The Volunteer Support will perform a variety of tasks including:

  • Meet and greet all internal and external customers and stakeholders;
  • General administrative duties;
  • Assist with interviews;
  • Make appointments for clients;
  • Assist with the production of Newsletters;
  • Assist with data entry; and
  • Assist with sorting food donations and stocking the food pantry.

The volunteers we are seeking will ideally be:

  • Have a positive and can-do attitude;
  • Sound administration and computer skills;
  • Great communication skills;
  • Ability to respectfully deal with people from different political, cultural and ethnics background;
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances;
  • Ability to adhere to and follow the Society’s policies and procedure; and
  • Willing to work within the ethos of the St Vincent de Paul Society and promote public understanding of the work of Vinnies NSW.

No experience needed as in-house coaching and training is provided. We welcome those with previous administrative backgrounds to share their skills with their fellow volunteers.
