In your role as Thread Together Volunteer, confidentiality is important as you will have access to personal information and you will be asked to/your tasks will include:

  • Undertake retail activities to maximise customer satisfaction, engaging with a diverse range of customers compassionately and without judgment

  • Providing a friendly and trusting environment for volunteers, customers and agency members

  • Accepting, sorting, preparing and merchandising stock

  • Administering the voucher and record keeping systems

  • Assisting the manager in supporting customers and agencies to access the center, using a team approach

  • Ensuring the Hub (shop) is clean, tidy, attractive with good access and egress

  • Compliance with organisational policies and procedures, training requirements, legislation, health and safety, diversity and a commitment to quality systems and continuous improvement

The St Vincent de Paul Society is an international, lay Catholic organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing assistance to anyone in need. We are committed to recruiting dedicated, professional volunteers who have the skills and experience appropriate for this role.

  • Vinnies Volunteer Assignment Agreement
  • WWVP Card

We need to have reasonable confidence that members, volunteers and employees, particularly those who have access to vulnerable persons we are assisting, are of suitable character and do not expose these persons to unacceptable risk. Therefore, volunteers may be required to have a WWVP Card. If you don't have one, we will help you apply for it. Please note that we handle all personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1998.
