Our day centre in Albany is bursting with activity, our clients who are living with dementia take part in a number of meaningful activities and socialising with others which promotes companionship.

Our dedicated team at Hawthorn House include our valued volunteers who we just could not be without.

The role of volunteer cook / kitchen assistant will help our day centre teams in the preparation of lunches and morning/afternoon teas, event the members like to help out from time to time.

Key Outcomes: Assists with the preparation of meals and refreshments Assists in menu planning for the coming week Sets the lunchtime dining room table Assists in serving meals to clients of the day centre Assists in clearing up the kitchen and dining area following meals and refreshments Participate in Foodsafe Training.

Selection Criteria: Good communication skills An understanding of dementia and its impact on the individual (we can provide this training) Good domestic skills Basic understanding of food hygiene (training will be provided)

Time and Availability Requirements: Approximately 2 - 4 hours, once or twice per week on a weekday
