Now is the time you can prepare for this role for when we are resuming our train operations post-COVID-19.

The Car Captain represents PRRPS and interacts with our passengers, therefore it is a responsible position which needs to reflect our organisation in a professional manner. A Car Captain is often in control of a set number of carriages of a passenger train, and ensures the carriages are well presented. On the journey the Car Captain ensures the passengers are informed of the points of interest, answering questions and generally makes sure the passengers enjoy their PRRPS experience prior to, and during their travel. If you are under 18 years old you will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All our volunteers are required to undergo a “Working with Children” check and the PRR organisation has a Code of Conduct policy.

PRRPS welcomes people who are good communicators, which is definitely an advantage as you will be part of a Train Crew Team communicating with our passengers, other Car Captains and the Train crew, to name a few. Training will be provided. An understanding of Rail Safety and WHS requirements including the Emergency Action Plans; First Aid training is an advantage.

The role includes:

• Wearing an appropriate uniform;
• Assist other crew and team members;
• Where qualified, relieve other senior positionswhen necessary;
• Ensure the quality presentation of the carriages;
• Provide on train customer service to passengers;
• Supervision and safe conduct of the passengers;
• Observance of all applicable rules and instructions;
• Ensure PRR promotional literature is available for passengers;
• Report any carriage defects to the Conductor.
