Volunteer Tutor
Mount Gravatt Community CentreMount Gravatt Community Centre Inc. (MGCCI) recognizes the important contribution of volunteers within the community. MGCCI values our volunteers who in their various roles support a broad range of services and programs offered by this organisation. Skills and attributes we expect in prospective volunteers are:
- Good people skills and an ability to communicate with people from all backgrounds
- Strong English language skills and an ability to assist with other subjects
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- Over the age of 18 and be eligible to hold a Working with Children’s ‘blue card’
Types of tasks in a typical day can include:
- Attend class with the student
- Explain complex terms to the student
- Ensure the student understands the subject matter
- Assist the student to complete in class assessments
- Maintain contact with the program coordinator
