VOLUNTEER WITH US, BECAUSE GOOD WORKS!

- BRAND NEW ROLE -

Who: An enthusiastic and motivated volunteer to help develop our brand new Lost Property Donation Program!

When: 10am - 4pm, one day per week (we are flexible as long as its Monday to Friday, we can also be flexible with the time)

Where: This position can be based at our Dandenong Warehouse, Altona Warehouse or our Central Office in Box Hill, depending on what works best for you. See location addresses towards the bottom of the email.

What is the Lost Property Donation Program?: First of all this is a brand new program and is therefore a great opportunity to help create something very special! The program will establish a relationship between our Vinnies Shops and various sporting clubs across Victoria. Unclaimed lost property that is placed in Vinnies donation bins onsite at the club will be collected by our Vinnies Transport Team and taken away to be sold in our Shops. Think of all the great, fantastic quality, but forgotten items that are left at clubs and never claimed. These items are left for months and then ultimately end up in landfill and going to waste. The money made from these recycled pre-loved goods will go directly back into the Community.

What might I be doing?: Some tasks include:

  • Creating a contact list/ spreadsheet of sporting clubs across Victoria
  • Contacting the clubs and establishing relationships with the aim of getting them on-board with the Donation Program
  • Coordinate pick ups and drop offs of bins between the Vinnies Transport Team and the clubs involved
  • Helping to develop the Program, finding efficiencies and making improvements along the journey

Requirements: We would love someone who has excellent communication skills and a flair for networking and building relationships. Coming from a sporting background could be advantageous as you may already have well established contacts in the field.  If you have previous experience in Marketing or Administration and understand the importance of developing partnerships with stakeholders we would love to hear from you! A Working with Children’s Check and Police Check is required before you commence, arranged and paid for by St Vincent de Paul.

Learn more about Vinnies!

St Vincent de Paul Society has over 110 retail shops across Victoria known as “Vinnies”, selling new and pre-loved fashion and homewares. The beauty of our Vinnies Shops is that you never know what unique and special treasures you might find! Over 12 million items were sold within our retail shops last year, which saved 12 million items from going to landfill!

The proceeds from items sold in our Shops go directly into our communities to help support some of the most vulnerable people that may be experiencing hardship and loneliness.

Across 9 Soup Vans we were able to provide over 88 thousand meals to people that would have potentially gone hungry.

40,000 calls for welfare assistance were answered last year in our Call Centre and assistance was given in the form of material goods, food vouchers and of course a compassionate ear.

Our 5 Education Programs offered reading, companionship, and homework help to 977 students who attended the programs in 2019.

None of this would be possible without our Vinnies Shops.
