Fairhaven WA provides family dispute resolution, counselling, Group education and Supervised Child Contact Service called Safe Haven.. We are a small volunteer run charity with aspirations to grow, but limited funding and resources. We are passionate about making a difference to families that are facing difficulties with family separation.
We are looking for people who understand the NFP sector, with experience and expertise in finance or accounting, business, HR or marketing to join our Board and who can contribute to Fairhaven’s growth. This is a leadership and hands on role. It will involve participating in monthly meetings (approx 3 hours) and 4 additional hours per month to prepare and progress activities and initiatives relevant to your expertise. The Board meets at City West Lotteries House, in West Perth.
We provide Family Dispute Resolution for parents who want/need an agreement in the best interest of their child/children in parenting and property issues. We use a holistic approach, where we integrate counselling and group education as part of the journey to mediation. We are about to start a new program – Safe Haven Child Contact Supervised visits.
The Committee comprises 6 members. It has previously been made up of members who are also counsellors. We would like to broaden the skills, perspectives and knowledge of our Committee. We have a book keeper who does all the accounts and sends a monthly financial report to the Committee.
In particular we are looking for people with
• an interest in the work that we do; • expertise in marketing, HR or Volunteer management, business management or accountancy; • an understanding of pressures on and requirements of NFP/charity organizations; • sufficient time to be able to give to the role;
and who are • eligible to serve as a Director; • team players; and • willing to commit for least 12 months.
Previous committee, board or governance experience would be a bonus.
In return, we offer you the opportunity to apply your skills, gain new ones, make a difference in our organisation, and to help us to run our organisation more efficiently and make a difference in the lives of more parents and children going through painful separation.
You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
