________________________________________________________ Motor neurone disease (MND) is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells - neurones - controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow; undergo degeneration and die. It is fatal. There is currently no cure.
We, at MND NSW, support our members on their journey whilst living with MND. We provide information, education, equipment, assistance in navigating the health system and NDIS (for those that qualify) and more. We support not only our members, those living with MND, but their families, friends, care givers and health professionals with information, education, support groups and more.
We are a not for profit organisation – receiving only 15% of our funding from the Government. The other 85% we must raise ourselves so we can continue to support people living with MND. Among other channels – donations, community run fundraisers/events and bequests for example, we are holding 9 fundraising Walks across NSW and ACT this year and our National Fundraiser – Cornflower Blue Day Friday 8 May.
