Would you like to make a difference in an older persons life? Are you friendly, enjoy spending time with others and kind in your approach? Respected elders in Byron Bay are in need of companions and require social and emotional support to increase their wellbeing. This role involves providing companionship to older people who face social, emotional or physical barriers which impact their involvement in group activities. Your role may include: reminiscing, having a chat over a cuppa, a walk outside or something you and your older person decide to enjoy together. Enjoy making a positive difference in the life of an older person and enjoy the social interaction that the volunteer visiting position brings. The role of a companion may be the most important part in the older person's day. Hours and days of the role are flexible and dependent on the volunteer. A long term commitment and a minimum of one visit per fortnight is requested and preferable. We would love to hear from anyone interested in this volunteer visiting opportunity and provide further information as needed.
