Background

All Together Now educates Australians about racism. It does this by imagining and delivering innovative and evidence based projects that promote racial equity. We are community driven, we utilise partnered approaches & our work is intersectional. The organisation is fast approaching its 10th birthday and is seeking a Volunteer Events Coordintator who will organise a celebration event, preferably in Sydney in June 2020. S/he reports directly to the Office Manager.

The Position

The Events Coordinator will undertake the following tasks:

1. Recommend a theme/concept for the event bearing in mind the organisation’s limited budget
2. Identify locations for the celebration within budget, and visiting locations to assess their suitability
3. Together with the Office Manager, negotiate with the preferred location to secure it for the celebration event
4. Write and send invitations with help from other staff and volunteers
5. Organise speeches and entertainment for the event
6. Liaise with communication specialists to ensure the event is well documented and promoted

The Events Coordinator will work 1-2 days per week in our office close to Central Station and from home if desired until one week after the event.

Selection criteria

1. Reliable, with the desire and expectation to see the project through to completion
2. Ability to work with limited supervision and also work as part of a team
3. Academic Degree in Communication, Marketing or similar, or currently studying such a degree, or work experience in an events coordination role
4. Excellent attention to detail
