We are looking for committed and caring volunteers to practical, social and emotional support to people affected by advanced dementia at IRT Kangara Waters. At IRT we believe it is important to support older people to continue to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives through a person-centred approach.

About the Role: • Provide relaxing and stimulating sensory techniques • Create personalised resources to support the person living with dementia • Assist in a range of activities including: • Making a memory box full of familiar objects and favourite pictures • Reading a favourite book • Listening to favourite songs or pleasant sounds • Using favourite and seasonal fragrances • Relaxing hand massage • Hair-brushing and face washing • Sips of a favourite drink

We’re looking for volunteers who have: • A strong commitment to working with older people from diverse backgrounds • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on active listening • Basic manual handling skills or willingness to attend training • Essential: Be over 18 years of age • Desirable: Experience working with people with dementia
