Lifeline Mackay is seeking Expressions of Interest for our Crisis Supporter Workplace Training (CSWT), which is a requirement in order to become a volunteer Lifeline Crisis Supporter on the 13 11 14 Helpline. Lifeline Mackay will hold its next CSWT course in July, 2020 (exact dates to be confirmed). The commitment involved in the initial and ongoing training to become an accredited Crisis Supporter is significant and you will be expected to attend face-to-face sessions, phone shifts, and supervisions over a period of 11-12 months.

A Lifeline crisis supporter is expected to have or develop the ability to be non-judgemental, respectful, and caring. As a student of the CSWT, you will learn how to work collaboratively with help seekers from varied backgrounds presenting a wide range of issues including relationship, mental health, and loneliness, to empower them in their lives. You will also learn how to work with help seekers who are experiencing suicide ideation.

If you wish to develop valuable skills in responding to people in crisis and contribute to Lifeline’s vision of an Australia free of suicide, contact us at the email provided with a brief Expression of Interest (100-200 words) outlying what you would bring to the crisis supporter role (your personal strengths, any relevant skills or experience you may have) and why you wish to undertake the training and become a Lifeline crisis supporter.

(Please note, we will require you to submit a formal application for a place in the course after you submit your initial Expression of Interest and once we have set the CSWT dates). We look forward to hearing from you.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
