Volunteer Sanctuary Hand

Edgar's Mission

Due to COVID-19 Edgar’s Mission is taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our volunteers and staff. At this time, we are not taking on new volunteers. We appreciate your support and patience during these challenging times.

Edgar’s Mission is a not for profit sanctuary for rescued farmed animals that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans. Set on 153 peaceable acres situated just outside of Lancefield, the sanctuary is nestled in the tranquility of the Macedon Ranges. Edgar’s Mission rescues and provides sanctuary to farmed animals in need, currently providing lifelong love and care to over 450 rescued animals. Through education, outreach, advocacy, community enrichment and sanctuary tours, we encourage people to expand their circle of compassion to include all animals.

The Volunteer Sanctuary Hand is vital in ensuring the animals in our care are provided with clean, safe and hygienic housing, yards bedding, and environment. A good level of fitness is required as this is an active role, where lifting, bending and considerable walking is required. You must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Examples of the sorts of tasks involved include: cleaning animal areas, maintaining animal care equipment, some general lawn and yard maintenance and extending and displaying kindness to all. As part of your role, you will be required to observe the animals and report any health or behavioral concerns or any potential safety issues or hazards.

This role is one day (6 hours) per week or fortnight. Volunteers must be 18 years and over. Training is provided.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
