Administration and Data Entry Assistant – Brisbane Recovery Service

A core value of the Salvation Army is to support the basic needs of individuals and communities whilst making a positive difference in the world.  The Brisbane Recovery Service assists clients experiencing physical, emotional and psychological hardship and recovery from substance dependancy.

Working as a part of a small and supportive team the Administration and Data Entry Assistant volunteer role provides administration services including data entry of information, responding to telephone calls, preparing of documents and responding to emails as required.  This role would suit someone who requires minimal supervision and is comfortable working alone as well as colaboratively.

Safety and well-being of self and others is vital and there is a requirement to identify and report hazards and incidents.

This is a great opportunity for someone with excellent clerical and administrative skills to provide short term assistance to the Brisbane Recovery Services team, utilising your skills, gaining experience and making a difference in your community by bringing HOPE where it is needed most.

The ideal candidate will have the following essential skills;

  • Must be able to work within the mission and values of The Salvation Army
  • Excellent phone manner
  • Strong computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Accurate data entry skills

Desirable skills;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in AOD, Social Work and or community development is preferred.
  • Experience in an administrative office environment

To succeed in this volunteer role, you will need to be conversant with Microsoft Word and Excel, and be an efficient typist.  You will have a positive and friendly disposition with an excellent phone manner, and be a quick learner with a high attention to detail and be task orientated. You will need to be reliable, trustworthy and respectful of the differing views and rights of others, and be able to work within the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

Time required is 2-3 days per week, 5-6 hours per day, days and hours can be arranged with the Manager. School hours suitable. Job share suitable

Additional requirements include; Completion of The Salvation Army's volunteer registration process. Completion of TSA induction modules and any other training as required. Current Criminal History Check (Police Check) required - at the organisation's expense.
