Our Wesley Mission Queensland’s Knowles Court Aged Care Community at Sinnamon Park is currently looking for people with a keen interest in plants. This volunteering role involves assisting with the upkeep of the plants and more importantly sharing the gardening experience with our residents who enjoy being out in the garden.

The Green Thumb Volunteer role will include:

• Interacting with residents while walking to the garden area.
• Watering, weeding, planting and general maintenance of pot plants and the garden area.
• Ensuring residents remain actively engaged, encouraged and inspired.
• Encouraging residents to be independent.
• Support friendship and fun in a relaxed outdoor environment.
• Ensuring positive interactions with residents, so they can maintain an enriched lifestyle.
• Reporting any feedback through to the workplace supervisor.
• Enjoying your volunteering role and making a difference in a person’s life!

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner.

The time frame is currently on a Wednesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm, other times can be negotiated.
