Logo for Queensland Military Historical Society Inc

The Queensland Military Historical Society's new museum at Fort Lytton needs Guides who will be stationed in our Exhibition Gallery and be responsible for interacting with the general public and safeguarding our exhibitions.

Our guides are the first and often the only Society representatives with whom members of the public will come in contact when they visit. It will be important for guides to gain an understanding of the Society and its aims, to be open and engaging when dealing with the public, yet also respectful to the desire of individuals to visit our space on their own terms.

Guides will also assist in the light cleaning and care of the exhibition gallery and facility before or after public visits. They may be required to move temporary signage, bins, or display covers; record number of visitors; and take note of comments and suggestions from the public. In most cases guides will move through the Gallery on an hourly rotation. When not in the Gallery guides will have options to assist in other behind-the-scenes tasks related to the maintenance of our artefact collection and library.

Our guides will also be expected to keep a watchful eye on our collection and the way the public engage with it. You are not there as a security guard however, and issues will be escalated to an on-site supervisor.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
