The Communications Support Unit is one of the most active Units of the State Emergency Service, working closely with firefighters during bushfire operations, filling in communications 'black spots' in fire grounds, operating base radio, maintaining contact with field units, mapping fires and providing data communications in remote areas. CSU is a vital part of fire operations State-wide (and occasionally interstate). We are available for call-out 24/7 every day of the year and we are now recruiting for 2021. As a member of CSU, you could be putting up a radio repeater on a hilltop, mapping a fire shape on a computer, operating a radio in the command centre, Establishing a satellite data link in a remote area or taking and logging calls from the public during a natural disaster.
