About the opportunity

Out for Australia hosts workshops, networking and social events that are designed to highlight role models, share experiences of being LGBTIQ+ in the workplace, build the skills and confidence of aspiring LGBTIQ+ professionals, and to provide an opportunity to bring the community together to connect. Our events consistently receive extraordinary feedback for their inclusiveness and for the benefits they provide to LGBTIQ+ students and professionals around Australia.

We are looking for Events Coordinators with experience in (or a dedicated desire to develop skills in) events coordination, creative thinking and project management who will be responsible for leading at least 1-2 Out for Australia events per year in the state. You will work together in a small team, with team members rotating leading roles for each event. Thus, outside the 1-2 events you’ll be leading, you will help fellow team members in running their events throughout the year by assisting with discrete tasks.

Events you may be running include professional development workshops, panel discussions and speaker events, industry/sector focused events and intersectional events (eg. Women, Trans* and Gender Diversity, POC, ATSI, Disability)

About you

  • Lead at least 1-2 event per year; assist other Event team members with running their events
  • Contribute to organising and delivering a diverse and creative array of events to cater to the wide interests, needs and industries of the Out for Australia membership base (e.g. joint events with student societies / organisations, sponsored events with our partners)
  • Ensure that all events: maintain professionalism and quality; are in line with Out for Australia’s vision, mission and brand; are inclusive and welcoming; provide an opportunity for networking and professional and personal development; provide Out for Australia members with role models; and add value to Out for Australia members.
  • Reviewing events and provide feedback to the State Director and National Executive on successes, failures and challenges. 
  • Work with the National Communications Team to develop and implement the communications strategy for each event.
  • Participate in State Team meetings and assist with miscellaneous projects where possible.
