Paws for A Purpose are a national charity with the mission of helping people and pets in need. We are working on an ambitious project to try and stop “Parvo” (Canine Parvovirus), a terrible disease that kills puppies, and especially targets the pets of people who are disadvantaged.

For the second year in a row we are running a heavily-discounted ($15) vaccination program in Rockhampton, for qualifying people, to try and stop Parvo cases. We are running this in collaboration with Rockhampton Regional Council and a number of participating local veterinary clinics.

This Parvo season, at the time of writing, so far we have provided nearly 300 x vaccination vouchers, with a goal to reach 500-1000 vaccinations provided. And so far Parvo has been kept to a minimum this season, however we know that January and February are usually really bad months for outbreaks, and sometimes this can extend into Autumn/Winter.

To allow us to reach our target of 500-1000 discounted vaccinations this year we are building a local team of passionate volunteers in Rockhampton to help do local fundraising, collect donations from businesses or other local organisations and also to raise awareness about our programs.
