CPL Volunteers contribute to our mission of an inclusive society for all people; extending social connections with clients, reducing social isolation; and enhancing CPL services by sharing skills, time and mutual interests.

Did you know that the person who invented Karaoke was awarded the highly coveted satirical IG Nobel Peace Prize for; “providing an entirely new way for people to learn to tolerate each other.” We can certainly agree – it takes a lot to listen to Jimmy from marketing sing Total Eclipse of the Heart for the 45th time! Join us as a Social Companion at CPL’s Hope Island service and have a laugh with our Karaoke crew, we’ll even enjoy hearing all the versions of Whitney Houston you have to offer!

As the Social Companion – Karaoke volunteer you will be:

• Encouraging and engaging clients to take part in sing-alongs
• Encouraging and engaging clients enjoy social interactions with others
• Conducting friendly, professional encounters with clients
• Assisting with the facilitation of related activities where reasonable

You will not be responsible for:

• Any personal support; e.g. manual handling, personal care, administration of medication or meal assistance. These activities will be carried out by qualified support workers.

This volunteer opportunity will take place at CPL’s Hope Island service on Fridays from 9am to 3pm (you are welcome to let us know the hours that suit you within these) and from 4pm to 8pm on the first Friday of every month. The volunteer and CPL will regularly review this volunteer role based on the capacity of the volunteer to assist on an ongoing basis and the needs of CPL.

You will be responsible for organising your transport to and from the location of this CPL role.
