Many CLD/Refugee young people experience barriers to success in school and full participation in Australian life. These barriers include: disruption to education, unemployment, language barriers and social isolation. Additionally, young people from refugee backgrounds may struggle with long term psychological impacts of trauma, as they rebuild their lives in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students with school subjects such as English and Maths homework
• Be a positive and supportive role model
• Encourage students to participate in group interactions
• Communicate information with enthusiasm, clarity and patience
• Ensuring safe and appropriate use of facilities and equipment
• Follow confidentiality, workplace safety and child safe protocols
• Observe the progress of participants and provide feedback to coordinator as required
