About The Role

The Salvation Army ("TSA") Bushfire Recovery - Administration & Assessors play a critical role in supporting the needs of our community during times of disaster and emergency.  This service gives people the opportunity to speak with a worker who can help with an assessment in order to obtain financial support.  The Bushfire Recovery Administration and Assessor will liaise with those people who contact TSA seeking assistance where a determination is made to the level of assistance that can be provided.

This important role is ideal for those who are organised and confident in dealing with people, providing support and guidance in their time of significant need.  You will have direct client contact through interview assessments and assisting clients.

Mandatory Requirements Of The Role

• Fully complete TSA volunteer registration process
• Current Criminal History Check (Police Check) and integrity checks as required
• Complete TSA induction modules and any other training as required (e.g. Child safe organisation induction)
• Willing to work within the ethos of TSA values and mission
• Show empathy and kindess to those in crisis
• Good understanding of the English language
• Articulate and pleasant telephone manner
• Good computer skills - MS Office suite
• Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and privacy

Qualifications & Experience Requirements For The Role

• Experience in disaster management, community services and counselling preferred but not required

Time Commitment

• 4 hour shifts (max 2 shifts per day as agreed with Team Leader), up to 6 volunteers per shift.
