Mentor for Migrant/Refugee Youth

Imagine Global Ltd

Imagine Global is a fast-growing new Charity in Perth, WA, and has two university branches in the University of Western Australia and Curtin. We are an official charity with the ACNC and are a deductible Gift Recipient (DGR status). We have several local and overseas humanitarian programs ongoing to date.

We are looking out for dynamic and compassionate University students or Graduates who are willing to spare a few hours once every two weeks to befriend and support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (Migrant/Refugee) youth in our mentoring program. No specific previous experience or qualifications are needed, though a drivers licence, reliable/responsible character and lots of compassion are required! We prefer that mentors have lived in Perth/Australia for at least six months.

The CALD group in Australia are at risk of having a lower socioeconomic status or experiencing social isolation and psychological stress. This program aims to help youth in this category navigate Australian culture and society with a supportive peer. Clients will generally be high-school or university-aged, many of whom will be referred from the community organisations 'Save the Children' and other organisations. Many of these youth need someone to show them that they are accepted here in Australia and that they matter and are worth investing in -- You could be the mentor who makes all the difference.
