Sinnamon Village Aged Care Community (Jacobs Court) - Sip & Paint Volunteer, Sinnamon Park

Wesley Mission Queensland
Logo for Wesley Mission Queensland

Our Wesley Mission Queensland Jacobs Court Aged Care Community at Sinnamon Park is seeking enthusiastic elder companions to assist with the ‘Sip and Paint’ Workshop on a Monday afternoon. The ‘Sip and Paint’ Workshop creates a safe and non-judgemental environment where residents can allow their creativity to flow onto canvas with a drink of choice in easy reach.

This activity assists residents by improving emotional health, reducing stress, strengthening fine motor skills and promoting a sense of wellbeing and connectedness. Most importantly bringing joy and creating smiles for all involved!

The Elders Companion can assist residents and staff by: • Helping with the set up and clean-up of the workshop. • Escorting residents to and from the workshop and assisting as required during the activity. • Encouraging independence, friendship and fun. • Being spontaneous and sharing life experiences. • Providing companionship and a sense of belonging. • Communicating resident feedback to staff to enhance resident enjoyment.

This volunteering role is suitable for people who have an interest in art and well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner towards others. This volunteering role is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our elderly, while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

The ‘Sip and Paint’ Workshop is currently held on Monday afternoon between the hours of 1.30pm until 3.30 pm approximately.

As an industry leader in aged care, all Wesley Mission Queensland’s aged care communities follow the internationally recognised Eden Alternative™ Philosophy of care. This philosophy places the resident at the core of our work, while empowering and valuing staff, carers and families.

In keeping with this philosophy, Jacobs Court staff are passionate about empowering residents to make their own life choices and are committed to providing spontaneous and enjoyable experiences for residents and their families.
