Hills Community Aid is looking for a volunteer that is passionate about working with the community. Community Playgroup is a facilitated playgroup which runs three sessions per week.

Playgroup sessions are held on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.15am - 10.45am and 11.15am - 12.45pm. Parents/carers attend and participate in the 1 hour sessions with their children. Playgroup provides/carers with a great opportunity to meet and connect with other parents/carers.

At Playgroup, children take part in a range of developmentally appropriate and creative play and learning experiences including dramatic play, construction, art, story-telling, sensory play and more. Playgroup is targeted towards two to six year old age group. We have an air conditioned venue with a shaded and huge range of resources.

Within this role you will - Create a welcoming environment for families attending the community playgroup sessions - Prepare and provide developmentally appropriate\, engaging play and learning experiences for children experiences for children attending playgroup. - Provide support to the staff in running the busy playgroup - Interact with children and their parent/carer - During the sessions the facilitator will guide the children's play\, encourage parent involvement and lead group times including short story time - The facilitator will work from 9am to 12.45pm. This includes 15 minutes to prepare and set up the paly environment indoors and outdoor before the families arrive at 9.15am and 30 minutes to clean up and pack away all equipment and resources into the store room - At all times\, the facilitator will ensure a safe and secure environment is provided Work with children that have additional needs. - Provide information to families about specific requirements - Wonderful opportunity for an Early Childhood educator who is returning to the work force or wants a work/life balance

Requirements - Tertiary qualification in early childhood education\, Children Services or Community Services - Working with Children check is essential - National Police Check is essential - First Aid and CPR qualification desirable - Experience working within the early childhood setting and proven ability to plan and provide appropriate play programs for children aged 2 to 6years - Excellent communication skills with children and adults
