The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of City of Boroondara - Community Planning and Development.

Are you City of Boroondara resident and would you like to help us connect other local residents who may have limited English language skills to access and participate in Council's services, programs and events? We are looking for Cultural Champions to assist us with engaging with these community members.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Connect local residents who may have limited English language skills to Council's services, programs and events
• Provide advice on the issues that are important communities and individuals

Skills and Experience: Be able to demonstrate strong connections with their multicultural community and relevant associated networks and be able to speak their communities' language.

Possess the following:

• High levels of cultural competency
• Skills in engagement and knowledge of methods of inclusive engagement and communication
• Demonstrated ability to work with others and build trust
• Good presentation and public speaking skills
• A friendly, inclusive and welcoming persona

Training and Induction: Training will be provided to develop the volunteers understanding of the services and programs of Council that are available to local residents. This will include training on how residents can access Council's translated information and other materials that are used to relay messages about Council Services to people who may speak English as their second language or have low levels of English language proficiency.
