Board member
Victims of Crime NT Inc.Board responsibilities are to:
- Abide by the organisation’s Vision, Mission and Values Statements
- Fulfil the requirements as documented in all Funding Agreements
- Work with external organisations in accordance with any Memorandum of Understanding
- Manage the organisation in a professional manner and in accordance with recognised governance standards
- Support the efforts of all staff and volunteers of the organisation
- Promote the Organisation and its functions
The role of a board member involves the following:
- Work towards and within the Objectives of the Association
- Provide strategic direction for the organisation
- Identify strategic risks for the organisation and its business
- Adhere to the Constitution and comply with the NT Associations Act
- Monitor the conduct and performance of the organisation
- Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place so that the activities and decision making of the organisation are conducted in a transparent, efficient and ethical manner
- Ensure that appropriate financial planning processes are in place and monitor ongoing financial performance
- Set a clear budget each year which takes into consideration the activities documented in the Strategic and Business Plan.
- Monitor, maintain and update the Association’s assets.
- Appoint the necessary employees to carry out the day to day management of the organisation and the delivery of services
- Advocate for the interest of all victims of crime within the public and private sectors • of the community
Role Requirements:
- Governance experience in NFP settings would be ideal.
- Effective communication skills and personal values that are aligned with those of the organisation.
- A willingness to stay informed about victim issues and needs, and to develop strategic responses to these.
