My Stage (Performing Arts Program) Volunteer

The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of Interchange Inner East.

Interchange IE's My Stage is a bespoke performing arts program for young people with a disability. The aim of the program is to allow participants to connect with their creative side and learn and explore through acting improvisation, dance, music, movement and so much more!

Sessions are lead by a qualified and experienced team leader, who has extensive experience in the performing arts and supporting young people with a disability. However, the success of My Stage is also reliant upon having a team of hard-working, skilled, passionate and dedicated volunteers.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Encourage and support participants to interact with one another and participate in My Stage
  • Promote independence of all participants
  • Enhance participant safety by providing additional supervision
  • Be supervised by Interchange IE staff to support participants at meal times
  • Take guidance and direction from the Team Leader, the Volunteer and HR Coordinators and other Interchange IE staff
  • Attend any relevant training to develop skills and understanding
  • Be available to volunteer at least once a month

Skills and Experience:

  • Have an interest in volunteering with people with disabilities
  • Have a positive non-judgmental attitude to people with disabilities
  • Have an energetic and enthusiastic nature
  • Be willing to work as part of a team
  • Have a passion, interest and/or experience in the performing arts!

Training and Induction: Interested persons will be invited to attend an interview at an Interchange IE office. Successful applicants will be subject to a series of mandatory checks.

All volunteers need to complete an in-depth induction, which includes the completion of various online training modules as well attending an in-person induction session held during business hours, Monday to Friday.
