Our team based at the Southport Respite Centre, offer a number of community services including group outings and activities for our clients. To maintain this essential service, we require the support of volunteers, and are currently looking for a volunteer Activities Assistant to work with our paid staff, supporting clients with various activities and group programs.

Along with setting up and packing down activities, you will be required to offer reassurance, praise and support along the way – joining in is encouraged! You may also be required to assist with client outings.

Skills & Qualities • An interest in various activities and hobbies, which may include Arts & Crafts, sewing, bingo or other games • The motivation to make a difference in other people’s lives • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to different ages and cultures • A patient, friendly and mature attitude and a respect for confidentiality and privacy • Maintain professional boundaries and work within the policies and procedures of Anglicare • Work with limited supervision and be able to take direction when required • Flexibility, commitment and ability to work both independently and within a team • Respect, care and courtesy towards others

Expectations • Availability – at least one shift (4 hours) per week, Monday to Friday. Days are negotiable. • Consistency and reliability – willing to commit to an ongoing basis • Two (2) referees – who are not relatives and can verify your character and interaction in the community (ie. Work Colleague, Church Elder, Community Leader , Doctor or other Professional) • National Police Certificate – undergo a national police check and we will coordinate and pay for this to be processed • Blue Card with Yellow Card Exemption - this is of no cost to you and we will coordinate on your behalf
