Community Engagement Volunteer
Carrington Cottages LtdCarrington Cottages offers transitional accommodation to people who have experienced homelessness.
Do you have the patience and perseverance to be a mentor to a person who has experienced homelessness? Could you walk alongside them as they take their first steps towards a more stable future? Carrington Cottages Ltd (CCL) is commencing an innovative program, aimed at people who have experienced homelessness but are now on the road to a different life.
We are looking for volunteers to become trained mentors and support people in the Adelaide metropolitan suburbs.
An ideal mentor would be easy going, a good communicator, have varied life experiences and have good connections within the community. CCL is looking to support mentor/client relationships for up to one year and we are seeking volunteers with at least 1 hour per week to spare. This program offers comprehensive training and ongoing support from the CCL staff.
Make a difference to a socially isolated person – become a Carrington Cottages volunteer!
Volunteers would need to be willing to work with a tenant as they upskill to become successful in maintaining their tenancy in the community.
A certain level of maturity and lived experiences would help a volunteer to understand, from the tenant's perspective, the challenges they are facing.
