WE NEED YOU!

Who: Volunteers to support children in our West Warrnambool Education Program When: Tuesday between 3.00pm - 5pm, during Victorian school terms Where: St Pius X Primary School 32 Hoddle Street Warrnambool VIC

Requirements: No experience required. Working with Children’s Check and Police Check arranged by St Vincent de Paul. St Vincent de Paul will assist you in acquiring these checks and completing a food handling course.

We are looking for people with:

  • A passion for helping others and giving back to your local community
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to build rapport in a respectful manner with people from a range of backgrounds and cultures
  • The ability to act with empathy and without judgement
  • The ability to commit to shifts once a week at least 2 school terms.
  • Someone looking to join a supportive, like-minded and committed team of volunteers who make a real difference in the lives of young people

As a volunteer you will be able to:

  • First and foremost, read with the students or support them to complete their homework!
  • Help students from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds to develop their social and language skills in a fun learning environment
  • Provide direction, support and guidance to the students where needed

  • The opportunity to build lifelong friendships with other volunteers This is a great opportunity for retirees, people returning to the work force or people who are studying or have studied Education and/or Special Education. People who have previous experience working with young people in any capacity are encouraged to apply.

More about Warrnambool Education Program: The Warrnambool Education Program is a vibrant, free community service that provides reading and learning opportunities to students from grade 1 to grade 6. At the education programs we help a range of students from various migrant, refugee, special needs and/or socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our volunteers are passionate and committed, enabling students to build trusting relationships and a good support network, where their education can thrive!
