Tobacco in Australia: Facts and Issues, now in its 30th year, aims to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of tobacco control efforts in Australia. By sourcing, analysing and synthesising the latest evidence to provide accurate, substantiated (well-referenced) and timely information, the resource can assist all those working in public health as well as journalists, lawyers, academics and students, to more quickly and easily produce the high quality text needed to explain the case for tobacco control and justify particular legislation, policies or programs.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Volunteer Research Assistant to join the Tobacco in Australia: Facts and Issues team. Reporting to the Research Assistant, your role is to:

• Add to EndNote library collections by sourcing relevant media releases, news reports and journal articles and creating EndNote references
• Assist with organisation of EndNote library databases, ensuring label systems are up-to-date and consistent, and duplicate references are eliminated
• Assist in the editing process of website content updates by checking and updating URLs as well as in-text hyperlinks

We are looking for someone who has:

• A passion for research, with a desire to learn about the field of Tobacco Control
• Proficient in EndNote X9
• Has sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite- Word, Excel and Outlook
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good organisation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to take direction and apply instructions to a variety of tasks
