About Good Neighbors Austalia

Good Neighbors is an international development NGO founded in 1991. Good Neighbors has been implementing projects to protect child rights, to strengthen global partnership, and to advocate the rights of the most vulnerable across the globe. Good Neighbors attained a general consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) in 1996. Currently, Good Neighbors is working in 43 countries with a focus on inclusive community development and child protection. Good Neighbors Australia office launched in July 2018 under the Good Neighbors’ International Governance. Good Neighbors Australia is a member of ACNC(Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission) and has a Deductible Gift Recipient(DGR) Status. We are a non-religious international development NGO that works to reduce poverty and make a difference in the most disadvantaged communities across the globe. Good  Neighbors Australia currently implement programs in Vietnam and the Philippines and support our partners throughout the Asia-Pacific regions.

Position Summary

Do you have strong financial management experience and have a passion for helping others in need? If you have a passion for making a good change for the world, we would like you to be part of our small but supportive team. We need a Volunteer Financial Advisor to help ensure our finances and accounting remain in order. The position would be suitable for experienced or retired account who are keen to make a social contribution. We expect you to contribute your time 3-4 hours per week, or one day every fortnight. Responsibilities include, but not limited to :

  • Oversee Good Neighbors Australia’s financial performance and compliance with ATO’s payroll, taxation and other financial reporting requirements
  • Provide  financial advice to the General Manager and other staff
  • Guide annual financial planning and review longer-term forecast and monitor financial trends within the Not-for-profit sector

About YOU

  • Knowledge in finance and accounting and experience in financial management, budgeting and planning
  • A passion for the Not-for-Profit Sector, and the sustainability of contribution
  • An understanding of and interest in helping vulnerable communities overseas

Our Volunteer Finance Advisor will play a crucial governance role in the organisation. Whilst this is a voluntary position, but you will get an opportunity to join an International organisation and contribute to supporting people in need overseas. You will join our multi-cultural team and work with other volunteers who are passionate about making a difference for the world. We wait for a new member who has relevant qualifications and experience to take the lead for Good Neighbors Australia in fulfiling it’s financial oversight responsibilities.
