Media Coordinator - Footsteps Program

On My Feet
Logo for On My Feet

On My Feet transforms lives.

We assist those at risk of or dealing with, homelessness by providing exercise groups and structured programs aimed at creating pathways to self-sufficiency and improved wellbeing.

Being homeless is more than the absence of shelter and our goal is to empower individuals to drive the changes necessary to get back on their feet.

We offer a hand up, not another handout.

About the Footsteps Program

The Footsteps Program is a 6-month self-development course for 12 chosen participants who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. During the program, participants undertake weekly educational workshops exploring positive physical and mental health, goal setting, strength identification, leadership, role modelling and preparing them to re-enter the workforce and connect them with job and work experience opportunities.

Concurrently to the weekly workshops, participants train with On My Feet every week to improve their physical and mental well-being and running ability with the aim of travelling to Melbourne in October 2020 to compete in the Melbourne Running Festival.

The program was launched in Perth in 2019 and is On My Feet’s new flagship program. The inaugural program has yielded some extremely positive results, assisting with transitioning participants to self-sufficiency.

The next program, which this role is advertised for, is scheduled for launch in April 2020 and will run for 6 months concluding in October 2020.

About the Role

We are looking to appoint a Media Coordinator to our Perth volunteer team for the 2020 Footsteps Program.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  1. Develop, implement a ‘2020 Footsteps’ media plan

Develop and implement a consistent and engaging media plan that will raise awareness for the participants taking part, and the program generally. In addition to shaping the overarching narrative of the program, the successful candidate will be responsible for capturing and/or facilitating the collection of content from the activities within the program (photos, video, social media graphics).

Where possible, the candidate will be available at least two evenings per week during the program to source content. Once this content has been gathered the distribution of this information across OMFs social media channels, and where possible traditional media outlets, will be another key aspect of the role.

  1. Coordinate, liaise with external contractors

We do not expect the candidate to undertake all aspects of the implementation, and will support the use of external service providers such as videographers, editors, graphic designers. The responsibility of the Media Coordinator will be to ensure that any outsourced tasks are completed to a high standard, are fit for purpose, and delivered within budget.

  1. Coordinate, liaise with internal stakeholders

Contact and engagement with OMFs separate divisions will be an important part of a successful candidates role. By default the candidate will be positioned within the broader Marketing & Media Team, but awareness of what is happening at an organisational level will provide the Footsteps Program Media Coordinator with the necessary context and guidance.

  1. Melbourne Running Festival

The selected candidate may be offered the opportunity to travel with the participants to Melbourne in October 2020 for the Melbourne Running Festival.

On My Feet is a 100 per cent volunteer run organisation. We do not have a registered office in Perth so all volunteer work can be completed at home or at an agreed location amongst the team.
