Help young people successfully navigate life after school.

Before you get to the rewarding part of mentoring young people for their future, there are just a few administrative steps. As a MyRoad volunteer mentor, you must be over 18 years old and reside in Australia. You'll need to be currently or recently working and willing to obtain a Working with Children Check in the state or territory in which you live, as well as undergo 2 hours of online training.

You'll need a computer with webcam and microphone (full tech support and training will be provided). It helps to be good with computers and have excellent verbal communication skills.

You'll be talking to young people in small groups of 3 to 5 in an online setting, about work-readiness (ie getting them ready for the world of work by sharing your experiences). Topics include: workplace relationships, resilience and teamwork.

You'll also share with students a series of module support videos showcasing different jobs and careers.

You can be based anywhere in Australia and may be mentoring students on the other side of the country. All mentoring is done online via videoconference from your desk or home office. Male and female mentors welcome. You'll also get the chance to meet and network with other mentors online.
