Hunter Homeless Connect Inc

Hunter Homeless Connect Inc (HHC) is seeking nominations for dedicated and appropriately skilled individuals to join the HHC Management Committee. They will join an existing Board with diverse skills and experience across a range of sectors and specialisations, all with a passion for improving the lives of people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. HHC is a not-for-profit organisation founded in Newcastle in 2012. The organisation has coordinated the annual Hunter Homeless Connect Day event since 2009 and has been rolling out the pilot of its Connecting the Hunter program since the beginning of 2019. The Management Committee are currently reviewing the strategic plan for the next period. The goal of HHC is to facilitate connections between people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness with the community, social needs and essential human services. The organisations current strategic focus is to:

  • reach people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness throughout the year, 
  • improve public perception and awareness and break down stereotypes, and
  • engage community members to contribute to a solution to homelessness in a meaningful way.

HHC are seeking nominations for multiple voluntary roles, with suitable individuals collectively addressing the below criteria.

Essential Selection Criteria All applicants to demonstrate:

  • Commitment to human rights and to HHC goals.
  • Personal integrity and alignment to HHC values.
  • Ability to commit time to committee meetings (approx. 1 evening per month), as well as several hours per month in between meetings to contribute to discussions, carry out the business of the association and attend occasional meetings with other relevant parties.
  • Ability to attend the full day Hunter Homeless Connect Day event most years – held around July/August each year.

Specific Selection Criteria Applicants should have experience in one or more of these areas

  • Strong local connections and networks.
  • Fundraising and/or marketing
  • Tender / grant writing and business development.
  • Development and delivery of strategic plans.
  • Finance / accounting.
  • Information technology.
  • Sector experience, lived experience or complementary industry experience.
