COVID-19 means many seniors are now in lock-down in their aged care facility or needing to isolate in their homes as a precautionary measure. This may contribute to heightened anxiety and feelings of loneliness in the elderly community all around Australia and Aurous has committed to fighting for the cause!

We are seeking compassionate and reliable volunteers in the vicinity of North Gosford & Wyoming, NSW for our Community Visitors Scheme - whereby lonely seniors receive regular visits to their homes by volunteers for a cup of tea and a chat for half an hour a week or one hour a fortnight. Our lovely participant in Wyoming loves singing, photography and reading. We're looking for a gentle-natured female volunteer to visit her on a weekly basis.

For now we would be asking you to Skype with or call your senior weekly until it is advised that in-person visiting in their home is safe.

Isolation and loneliness are two of the biggest problems facing individuals and communities, especially in our ageing population. Research shows that people who maintain social relationships live longer, healthier and more fulfilled lives. We need you to share your interests, your enthusiasm and your life with someone who may just need a friendly face and ear. As little as half an hour a week can make a significant difference to someone’s life.

The Community Visitors’ Scheme (CVS) is a federally funded program, established to promote links between elderly people living in their own homes or within aged care residences and friendly volunteer visitors.

Aurous' CVS program is proudly offering services to a diverse range of clientele and have recently included multicultural, LGBTI and ATSI callers and volunteers.
