Logo for Story Factory

Story Factory is a creative writing centre that delivers workshops with a focus on storytelling and expression. Our workshops are led by our trained educators (Storytellers) with the support of our volunteer tutors.

Under the guidance of our expert storytelling team, they lead our workshops, which are designed to build literacy, confidence, and creativity: essential skills young people need to shape their future. We establish a space where young people feel safe and supported, where they have permission to be creative, and where they are excited to write.

Volunteer Role -Volunteers work with students in small groups to support them write all kinds of stories, from narrative fiction, poetry, performance script, a radio podcast, short film, memoir, letters, comic strips, etc., which we then publish.

Skills - We’re looking for volunteers who are patient, kind, have a sense of humour and imagination, and proficiency with the English language, and can create a safe space for our students to feel confident to be creative. We do NOT require you to have teaching or writing experience (although that's great if you do).

Timing -We're looking for volunteers who can commit to volunteering between the hours of 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday, for 2-4 hours each week, the same time and day each week for a minimum of one school term (8-10 weeks)

Locations - If you're signing up to volunteer, keep in mind that currently our greatest need is within Western Sydney, particularly our schools in the Blacktown, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Cumberland and Canterbury-Bankstown LGA areas.
