Nardine

Nardine Wimmin's Refuge

Was established in 1974 and is the oldest, still operating, Women’s refuge in Western Australia. Nardine provides short term crisis accommodation and medium term transitional supported accommodation to women and children experiencing family and domestic violence.

What's Involved

Nardine is looking for volunteer gardeners to assist us in maintaining and caring for our client’s gardens in the community. The gardens here are a integral part of the client experience. The half-acre of gardens are an ever-varying, tranquil environment of majestic trees, shrubs, flowering plants, grass and shrubbery.

Garden Maintenance under direction, assist the Nardine staff in the care, maintenance and presentation of the gardens and public spaces at Nardine to the highest standards, including: • Weeding • Sweeping • Pruning • Mowing

Applicants must be willing and capable to undertake a physically demanding role in an outdoor environment. Reasonable physical health and mobility is essential • A minimum commitment of one 3 hour shift per fortnight is required • Volunteers will work under the supervision of Nardine staff. • Garden volunteers must supply their own hats and gloves. • Training will be provided via induction and on the job.

We need people who are:

  • Supportive of women and children’s rights
  • Able to commit their time regularly.

Applications & Screening:

If an application is successful, candidates will be requested to make themselves available for an interview walk around of the refuge.If deemed suitable, we will ask you to provide 2 written references, you will also require a current Police Clearance and Working With Children’s Check. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
