The role requires a volunteer trainer who can be available one Sunday a month. The primary purpose of the role is to deliver the dynamic induction training session, which all new members of the organisation must attend.

  • The induction training involves presenting key information about the organisation, introducing the programs it offers and highlighting the important procedures and policies of ARV.
  • Typically, there will be two trainers at each session, swapping between sections, and facilitating activities.

Other duties on the day may include making follow-up phone calls to new trainees, liaising with our recruitment team, and collaborating on updating training materials.

We also encourage trainers to attend at least a few of our program days to enhance their story telling ability during training sessions.

Trainers must have:

  • Confident people skills
  • Clear verbal communication
  • Excellent time-management
  • Ability to listen to direction
  • Good teamwork and collaboration skills

Applicants must be able to aim to commit to at least 12 months (11 x Sundays a year).

We welcome applications from experienced trainers; however, any enthusiastic and dedicated individuals keen to expand their skills are encouraged to apply, and we will provide adequate training and support to prepare volunteers for the role.

Joining the ARV admin team is an excellent way to gain employable experience, understand how a not-for-profit organisation operates, and contribute to the growth and success of an amazing entirely volunteer-run organisation. As an ARV trainer you will play a key role in ensuring that all new members of the organisation undergo quality training and that they are left with a positive first impression of ARV; thereby, maintaining the organisation’s integrity and growth.

Training sessions are held once a month at the STARTTS Carramar headquarters (near Villawood).  Trainers are required to arrive at 9 am to help set-up the presentation, and the day usually goes until 3:30 pm.
