The primary roles and responsibilities will be to assist in the preparation for the busy Christmas Period. This will involve: 1, The creation of individualised inserts for vendors to give to customers over Christmas. These "Get to know your vendor" inserts will require the volunteer to meet with each vendor for a Q and A session, and to create inserts that reflect the individualism of each vendor; 2. Preparation for events. Over this period The Big Issue hosts a number of events for our vendors, including the Calendar Launch, Christmas Party, Christmas Launch. General support event will be needed. 3. Pitch walks are an integral part of staying connected with vendors and making sure they feel supported on their pitch. It is The Big Issue policy that the vendor support team complete at least 8 pitch walks per week and that this is shared between all vendor support staff and volunteers. It is important to maintain a focus on sales and selling tips on pitch walks, and to ensure vendors feel comfortable in their surrounds and positive about their situation. The role is not to counsel vendors, but support vendors to sell magazines.
