Primary School Educators

St John Ambulance ACT

Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity that assists to save more lives in our community?

St John Ambulance has been a household name in Australia for generations. From humble beginnings in to today’s modern-day organisation, St John has been there for the Canberra community for more than 80 years. The innovative organisation we pride ourselves on today focuses on the provision of first aid services at events, first aid training, products and community education. We deliver age appropriate, free first aid training to school age children through free educational programs and are seeking to fill a number of volunteer roles within our Community Education Programs. These valuable programs teach students what to do in the event of an emergency. The knowledge and skills gained in our First Aid in Schools program contribute to building a safer and more resilient family unit, community and ultimately assist younger members of our region to deliver potentially life- saving assistance in medical emergencies. In 2018 we trained over 9000 students and would love to build this number and potentially increase our course offering to higher education students. This ensures that all students’ skills are kept up to date and the confidence to manage these situations remains with them throughout their schooling.

Our volunteer Educators will be required to visit primary schools across the Canberra region and deliver short, engaging and fun first aid training. These roles would suit retirees or parents who might be looking for a rewarding opportunity to engage with our younger generations. Time required is flexible and we are able to tailor the hours required to your needs. This truly is a wonderful opportunity to be involved and give back to the community while building confidence and resilience.

All successful applicants will be required to undertake a police check and obtain a Working with Vulnerable People Card. Applicants must be available between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday.

You can not apply for this role as it is no longer available.
