The program Australian Red Cross Emergency Services has been responding to emergencies and providing humanitarian assistance in Australia since 1914.  We are committed to strengthening and extending our emergency aid services to all Australians to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.The Summer 2019-2020 season is expected to be an intense and busy season for Australian Red Cross Emergency Services. To ensure our volunteer-led service has the capacity, capability, resources, systems, processes and operations to support people and communities across Victoria this Summer we’re recruiting for a number of Team Convenors.

Working across your division, you will be rostering and supporting your team to provide psychological first aid, Register-Find-Reunite, and Food-&-Water programs to people during emergency events. This may be in a relief or evacuation centre, or visiting homes and other locations. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills through Red Cross Leadership and Personal Development training while building local relationships with community groups and organisations.

The opportunity This role is a great opportunity to be a leader in a geographic Division and make a significant contribution to the community with the key goal to save lives, build resilient communities and support people in disasters.   The Emergency Services Team Convenor provides administrative, management and leadership guidance during non – operational periods and is responsible for rostering and activating team members as required during an emergency event or in the recovery phase.  Team Convenors work closely with their respective Divisional Operations Officer to ensure that their team is equipped, engaged and available to provide services during all phases of the emergency management cycle: preparedness, response and recovery.
