The Salvation Army Brunswick Distribution Centre provides resources to the social programes and community outreach in the local area and into greater Victoria area. We're looking for a cheerful and responsible drivers assistant who loves helping others.

About the role. This volunteer role facilitates the collection of groceries and material aid from Foodbank Victoria.  Fresh groceries and donations of quality foods are vital in ensuring The Salvation Army has a balanced and healthy range of food on offer for those experiencing hardship and crisis.  This role is ideal for those who are organised and keen to help people in their time of need.  This is your chance to make a real difference to the lives of our most disadvantaged with the desired outcome of safe transportation of goods to/from The Salvation Army.

The collection of groceries primarily takes place each Thursday, 9am-2pm.

This role provides on the job training and induction, as well opportunity to gain skills all whilst in the knowledge that you are assisting others in the community.

Attention to road safety, reliability and ensuring the vehicle is kept clean and in good condition are a must.

The Volunteer drivers assistant role requires;

• ability to lift donated goods into and out of The Salvation Army van safely
• cleaning and refueling of vehicle
• punctuality and reliability
• good interpersonal skills and willingness to work with people from a diversity of backgrounds
• ability and willingness to work singly or in a small team
• a willingness to work within the ethos and values of The Salvation Army

Integrity checks, completion of TSA induction modules, volunteer registration process and training will be required for this role. A reasonable level of fitness is required to perform the inherent requirements of this role.
